The Kickstarter promotion for Thrilling Tales of the Downright Unusual is down to its final hours! The good news is that we’ve reached the funding goal – so the pledges will be redeemed, the Fabulous Prizes will ship out to the project’s backers, and people, by which I mean me, will be dancing in the streets.
The rest of the news isn’t bad. It’s all good. Really!
But as I explained in the project description I set a funding goal that I believed we could reach.
The actual expense of producing the next chapter of The Toaster With Two Brains and the non-interactive Clockwork Book stories will be quite a bit more than that. I’ll be making up the difference myself, of course, but as far as the Kickstarter project goes… well, the more the merrier.
So if you’ve been thinking about pledging to support the project in return for books, prints, exclusive t-shirts and so on, well, this is your last chance to pile on.
The pledge drive finishes at midnight, U.S. Pacific Time.

Congrats on meeting (and exceeding) your Kickstarter goal!
Unfortunately, money is very tight for me right now, and I couldn’t pledge…however, I received an Amazon gift card for my recent birthday, so what I DID do was order a copy of “Thrilling Tales” off of Amazon. (Hey, every little bit of royalties count!)
My copy is on the way; looking forward to seeing the repro quality of Create Space POD full color!
Best,
D
Thanks! I’ve wondered how the Amazon buyers have found the book since it’s in, well, Amazon. And in your case I guess the answer is that you were looking for it :).
The full color Create Space printing is really good, as you’ll see. The only problem is that their matte paper doesn’t give as good contrast as glossy paper would, so the images need to be adjusted to compensate.
Got the book, looks great! But yeah, surprised they don’t offer glossy paper for full color POD. Perhaps it’s still at this point cost or technologically prohibitive.
Would still love to see Thrilling Tales or Empire State Patrol(!) published as a creator owned comic, via Dark Horse, IDW, Dynamite, etc. I do think the “geek” sites such as ComicBookResources.com would give you some great coverage…
